All I Want For Christmas - Is a Freddie King Guitar!

I must have been about 16 or 17. I was a guitar nut then. I could not play much, but I was a fan, a big fan of guitars. All music on television has been selected carefully to see if any serious guitar players were involved. I was into rock music, but I had to know enough understanding of the genre that most of the things I loved to hear was developed by the Blues.

One of the conditions of my blues education was a late-night program in the United Kingdom, called the Old Grey Whistle Test, I amto say, ashamed that although most of the music (I now know) was great, I dipped my nose at them most. I could only tolerate a keyboard or piano, but brass instruments were most definitely for pansies. You could not get more trombone away from Rock and Roll as a trumpet or!

I digress.

One night I saw that the ÖGWT roster was someone named Freddie King. I had heard of him because I had heard from most people. I can barely have scraped through my traditionalEducation, but to my Rock n Roll studies, I was definitely an A-class student.

Said Freddie King had to offer, and I felt I had to but the man is a breeze. So I tuned to a great man of our Freddie. He was introduced, and after a brief pause, the cooking began with an instrumental number called Boogie Funk.

I was struck awe.

I loved it. This guy was something else.

Over the months (and years) that followed, I was looking for any record store I knew Freddie King albums, search forthis tune, Boogie Funk. And I could find it? No, I bought several albums of Freddie's and was always disappointed because they did not one of them. I thought I would have questioned the name of the track, so I was looking for something that could have that track, and was always disappointed. Freddie King, was unfortunately a disappointment.

30 Roll Forward of years.

Freddie King is no longer with us. He died a few years after the TV show I saw. But I have never forgotten that a singlePerformance.

I was in a music store in Bristol (near where I live) looking for a Christmas gift for my wife. This is a bit like a ritual for me. I go and brave the crowds at the mall, looking for something for my wife, and at the end of a music shop. It happens every year. As luck would have it, I had found something for my better half, and was only seen on the shelves if there's something in my youth, when I came to the DVD section. I like the DVD's over CD'sto be honest. Live performances by artists long gone for me one of the luminaries of the modern age.

So I was browsing through the DVD's and what I saw? Yes, you thought some of the archives ÖGWT. not even think I was Freddie King, but on the DVD's, it was Freddie, listed in the credits for, yes, Boogie Funk. I almost wet myself. Do you sometimes have moments of pure excitement? I have in the store. Needless to say, I bought the DVD and fellhome.

Freddie King's performance was almost exactly like I thought. The excitement was the same, energy was the same. I had a window to discover my youth. Freddie played a Gibson ES 335 guitar (I think) and played a crucial Blues Boogie. Just for me.

Freddie, I'm sorry I lost you in all these years. They were lost but never forgotten. And back now, I am yours forever, while a fan again!

Nikon Monarch 8x42 Binoculars

Nikon Monarch 8x42 binoculars are one of the best decisions today in high-quality, affordable binoculars. When I started hunting, I did not think much of binoculars. I used everything we had and some of them really were not that good. I just did not know it at the time. Only much later did I realize what I was missing.

My perspective was changed to a moose hunting a few years ago. A friend of mine gave me a pair of his Zeiss binoculars. The difference wasamazing, but Zeiss binoculars were much more expensive than my budget allows. The importance of a good pair of binoculars should soon be really really important to me.

The next day we were in the early hours of the morning hunt. There was only one small light, and it was very cold and wet. I tried a clearing glass, and I could not see anything. My binoculars had fogged on the inside. That made me feel very helpless during the hunt. I knew there were moose around, but I could not get myBinoculars to find them. Needless to say, the quality was very important to me at this point.

I have a lot of research and decided to buy a set of Nikon binoculars. I bought the 10x42 model because of the large distances, where I would use, but the Nikon Monarch 8x42 binoculars are just as good if not better. I liked the way I could see a full field of view with my glasses on. I had not been able to do before. I also liked the overall optical quality. Youwere significantly better than any other binoculars I tried in my price range. Are they as good as today Zeiss and Swarovski binoculars? No, but they are quite close to one-tenth of the price.

The only thing I'm not fond of is the lens cap. They are not the best I've seen, but I do not use them when I'm hunting anyway. So, I do not want to look at a problem. During storage, they remain in their case, and the caps remain good.

I really believe the Nikon Monarch 8x42Binoculars are some of the best available today binoculars at a reasonable price. If you can afford Zeiss or Swarovski, go ahead. If not, check them out here. They are a really quality set of binoculars that will not break the bank. Nikon also has a no-fault lifetime warranty on her back, if you need it.

Everclear So Much For The Afterglow Rock Music CD Review

Not sure what happens to me on this one, but it seems like the more I hear, the better So Much For The Afterglow gets. So Much For The Afterglow is simply given one of their best CDs to date.

So Much For The Afterglow grabs your attention right from the start with so much for the afterglow and can not go until the last note of the very last song Like A King in California, which is another great track by the way.

So Much For The Afterglow has a beautifulvaried, mix of 13 tracks that are very well written and brilliant songs by these clearly talented musicians. With many of the songs a lot of shows on the kind emotion that for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching the real emotions of love and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

If you still slightly in the rock music you enjoy this album.Overall, So Much For The Afterglow is an outstanding release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with a single track.

While the entire album is really very good some of my favorites are track 5 - I Will Buy You a new life, Track 12 - Why I do not believe in God, and track 13 - Like A California King

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [... as in "Stuck On Repeat"] is track 1 - So Much For The Afterglow. Good stuff!
